ForsONEway™
An integrated hybrid (satellite-terrestrial) Broadband Platform to deliver Media-Rich Internet Services.
ForsONEway limits the cost of Broadband service provision, while extends the quality of service in regions with limited access to Terrestrial Telecommunications infrastructure
ForsONEway maximizes the potential offered by the high capacity of new satellite communication technologies (DVB-S2 operable in any band – also Ka-Band-, ready for ACM and soon supporting GSE encapsulation) to reach to the “unserviced” with the full potential of Broadband.
ForsONEway routes the return channel traffic through terrestrial networks consuming low capacity –bandwidth- while enabling a lower latency on the return channel if compared to Satellite Return Channels: L<100ms -3G return- Vs L>240ms –Return Channel via Satellite-. A lower latency on the return channel will be noticeable by the user when accessing the Internet improving his user experience. This way, both the cost per user terminal as well as the cost per the provision of Broadband services are drastically reduced: no need for satellite transmitter –BUC- at the user end, no need for satellite capacity to carry the return traffic from the end users. Because ForsONEway does not manage Satellite Return Channels, the cost and the complexity of operating the platform at its core is also minimized –instead, the terrestrial return networks (mobile, dial-up…) will handle the return traffic.
When there exists Direct Broadcast Satellite or Direct To Home Satellite TV infrastructure available, ForsONEway beomes the most straight forward solution to deliver Broadband Services to end users: their already existing Satellite Receive antennas and LNBs can be used for Broadband!
